The King family have passionately run the farm since the 1920’s. The four generations that have taken care of this beautiful landscape have seen a huge amount of change. Our farm continues to grow and evolve with us as a family. Our exciting new venture at Malting Farm is part of our long term diversification plans, which are designed to complement our love of farming, family and the countryside.

Malting Farm originally started out in 2012 as a franchise glamping site with six safari tents. But, we always harboured dreams of building our own creative, purpose built accommodation that complemented our unique site. Fast forward a few years, throwing a wedding, some farming fun and two small children into the mix and inspiration hit! We suddenly realised how impossible it is to find a holiday to suit the whole family. So we decided we wanted to provide the kind of holiday experience that we wanted for ourselves. We didn’t want a retreat with nothing to do, but we definitely didn’t want a busy commercial kids holiday either. We wanted nature, outdoor space and a few relaxing nature based activities we could all enjoy. We also wanted the freedom to explore a new area and maybe even try something new.

We wouldn’t be farmers if we didn’t want to tell you a little bit about our fabulous farm! Malting Farm is part of our 300 acre working family farm in Little Bentley. Our farm is a mixed farm, which means we produce both arable crops and manage livestock.

Our arable crops include potatoes, wheat, barley, rapeseed, onions, and maize. The farm also has a small herd of cattle and a livery yard for horses. We participate in national environmental schemes. This involves us using arable land to provide things like winter bird food and shelter, leaving grass margins around our arable fields for natural predators and insect life. On top of this we have created a long term hedge and tree planting plan, and to date we have planted an acre of woodland and over 1km of hedges.

As farmers we’re really proud of the conservation projects and the sustainability of our farming practices. The Malting Farm site supports the conservation work that we’re continuing to build on and we’re always looking for innovative ways to improve the way we impact our environment.
